TRIP TO NOWHERE - Annick Donkers
‘After a horseback ride starting in Real de Catorce I arrived at El Quemado, and what I saw that particular day of October 2002 made such an impression on me that I wanted to know more about the mysteries of this culture. El Quemado was an altar on top of a mountain, a holy place for Huichol indians, a place to offer to their Gods, existing in arrows and traditional figures covered with coloured beads and forms that seem to come from unknown dimensions. With these images in my mind, I went back to Belgium and promised myself to return and gain more in-depth knowledge about this culture.’ (Excerpt from the publication ‘Crónica de un viaje sinfín al universo Huichol’, Mexico Desconocido – 2009)
